At First Floors we have a wide range of exotic wood flooring species including Blacknut wood flooring, along with American Walnut, Bamboo, Cabreuva, Jatoba, Hickory, Maple and Zebrano to name a few.
Our hardwood flooring options all vary in terms of how hard wearing they are, with Bamboo and Blacknut being incredibly hard with American Walnut being slightly softer and more prone to marking.
The most popular exotic wood we stock is Blacknut due to the mix of golden, mustard, gold and dark wood tones. It’s a lovely alternative to a dark stained oak and over the last few years it’s become one of our most popular flooring options.
Here’s an installation we recently carried out for a customer in Glasgow. They opted for a Blacknut engineered throughout their Victorian conversion. The results were stunning.
The colours in Blacknut flooring vary from a very pale yellow to chocolate brown and even darker streaks. There are many patterns within the wood including streaks and curls. It also has some knots and irregular grains.
This wood species oozes character and charm, and the depth of the colours create a real wow factor floor in any home, from modern apartments to more traditional villas and Victorian tenement flats.
We have several Blackout options, and if you don’t want real wood it’s also available in a laminate or luxury vinyl option too.
Our showroom has a children’s play area so you can browse in relative peace, and we have a coffee bar so there’s no rush to come in and choose what you want! If you see a few things you like, we will book a free home consultation where we can measure up (with no hard sell) and let you see how the flooring looks in your home.
