So what floor do you go for – tongue and groove or click system?
Making the right decision of which type of flooring option is suitable for your house is a very important factor. It can sometimes be difficult to choose between a tongue and groove or a click system. Choosing the system that will work best for you will depend on where the flooring will be laid. If using the tongue and groove system, the floorboard can be secretly nailed to an existing tongue and groove floor or suitable sub floor. It can also be glued to a suitable sub floor as well. Many boards now come in the click system, which make it a simpler and faster installation. However, with tongue and groove or click, the click system is predominately used with the engineered boards and laminates. It is also used in some of the vinyl products on the market today. Engineered boards are becoming more popular as time goes by, as they can be installed over most sub floors. An engineered board will “ Float “over the existing sub floor. With an engineered board an underlay is required, unless it is being nailed. Engineered boards are very solid products and do not expand and contract as much a solid wood. Engineered boards will come in a huge range of wood finishes and wide planks giving you a great choice of finishes and colours. If you are going for a laminate ,with the advance of technology, sometimes you cannot tell the difference between the laminate and the real thing. Laminates are a great product if you are working with a budget, but are still wanting the real wood look. Laminates are suitable for most rooms in your home, but we would recommend a vinyl for a bathroom which is totally water-proof for this area. Most luxury vinyls these days like the fantastic Moduleo will come in wood effects and stone etc. You can see this beautiful product at our showroom on Fenwick Road in Giffnock.
