So you are thinking of getting a new floor – real wood or laminate?
Which should you go for? And if you do get real wood or laminate, how do you look after them both? If you have invested in a brand new wooden floor such as oak, cherry, black nut, maple or walnut then to keep it at its best we have a few recommendations. First try not to over soak your wooden floor. This is really important as if you do, the liquid will seep in and cause the floor to expand. Any spillages should be mopped up as quickly as possible. A light dusting or quick hoover will keep you floor in tip top shape. If you are using a wood cleaner please spray onto each part and wipe away. Remember that a wood floor has a very hard surface and unlike a carpet it will not absorb the odours and dust. That is why a quick brush or hoover, will keep your floor beautifully clean. It really is one of the benefits of having a wooden floor. It is such a healthy and natural product to have in your house. If you love carpets but love the benefits of a real wood floor then why not invest in a gorgeous rug giving you the best of both worlds. A laminated floor will also give you these great benefits, although of course it is not a natural product as such. For those that don’t know, the top of a laminate is actually a picture taken of real wood, thus giving the impression of a real wood floor. Of course today’s technology is so far advanced, that sometimes you cannot tell the difference with just looking at a laminate and a real wood floor. One of the main differences between a real wood floor and a laminated floor will be the price. If you have a limited budget but want the look of real wood, then a laminate will be the perfect choice for you. Laminates are extremely hard wearing and come in such a range of colours and finishes you really will be spoilt for choice.
