Laminate vs Vinyl Flooring – Wood Flooring Glasgow

Laminate vs vinyl flooring – Is vinyl flooring really better than laminate?

When installing a new floor there many options for you to choose from. Two of these options are vinyl or laminate floors in a range of finishes. Let’s do a comparison between a vinyl and laminate floors.

For both products the benefits are that they are two of the least expensive options to go for. In comparison to real wood – solid hardwood or engineered wood flooring, they offer exceptional value for money and are very easy to fit.

Now each product has its advantages and disadvantages. One of the main things to remember is that the flooring you are going to be putting down needs to be suitable for the room in which it will be fitted. Both products will deal well with moisture, though a cheaper and less expensive laminate will suffer if too much moisture is absorbed.

One of the advantages of laminate is that it is resilient to anything that is dropped onto it, making it very tough and hardwearing. With vinyl flooring, in comparison to laminate it can be very soft underfoot and is quiet when you walk across it – our Moduleo range has excellent soundproofing qualities. With laminate flooring, you really need to go for a product that is specifically designed for soundproofing – which we currently have in stock. If laminate flooring is not installed properly with a decent underlay it can be quite noisy so this is always good to bear in mind.

In terms of waterproofing, vinyl floors are probably best suited to bathrooms as they will be more water resistant. Laminate can be used in bathrooms but you have to very careful not to over-soak the product which could cause warping. There are many new vinyl products on the market including Moduleo which is a fantastic luxury vinyl flooring, this can viewed at the First Floors showroom on Fenwick Road on Glasgow’s south-side. There is also and extensive range of laminate flooring as well, where you can choose and browse over all the colour ranges. With Moduleo it really is suitable for any room in the house and due to the technology behind the product, each plank or tile is different from each other giving it a much more natural look. It is perfect for bathrooms as it is totally water-proof. It really is a beautiful and very natural looking floor when it is down. Now, laminate can be very hard-wearing and can last for a long, long, time, but really the choice is all yours. You can choose from stone effects to beautiful wenge stained oak or a natural slate. visit our showroom on 176 Fenwick Road, Giffnock G46 or call to talk to us about laminate vs vinyl flooring on 0141 638 0968.

Fantastic service. David gave me great advice on which flooring would be most suitable for my business premises. Within the week Steven came to fit the flooring and, as promised, was in and out in a day. Can’t recommend this local Company enough. Anna Smylie ZuZu Giffnock.

We recently purchased engineered oak flooring and carpets from First Floors. The customer service from David and team was exceptional. We had just moved home from overseas and bought a house with no floors so we did not have access to allow First Floors to measure. Theye allowed us to use our own measurements as we wanted the floors laid ASAP once we had the keys. The floor is beautiful and laid very professionally (thanks Steven). The carpets are also lovely and exactly what I wanted. The only thing I would change about the experience would be to have First Floors assess the house in advance. We have fire doors which were a problem the day the carpets were laid. This was not the issue of First Floors and it was resolved quickly. Thanks again David, we would highly recommend First Floors to anyone.

Another Great Job Done!!
Just had our third floor project in seven years completed by First Floors once again.
Great service from David and his showroom team from assisting in the selection of materials through to arranging the installation. Chris and his team worked tidily and efficiently on the hardwood flooring with great attention to detail. Gordon who fitted the stair carpet was very professional in his work and was able to resolve some problematic details to our entire satisfaction.
Would definitely recommend First Floors.
