We recently fitted distressed solid wood flooring in oak in the living room and hall of a customer who lived in a beautiful traditional villa on the south side of Glasgow. The board plank was 180 wide by 1860 long, and the installation took just one day to fit. The customer was thrilled with the result and we are now about to start installing a similar floor in the same street. Solid wood floors are still very popular, with oak being the first choice for our customers, followed by walnut, maple, beech and cherry. The distressed plank has more knots and can look slightly darker when the installation is complete due to this, and we find that this floor goes with most decors. A lacquered finish is also very popular, as it has an oil surface coating creating a lovely shiny finish and a harder surface than oiled flooring and it does require less maintenance.
